No. 10: Auburn

Auburn continued its success by defeating Texas A&M, 42-27. That marked two wins in a row, both of which were huge as No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Alabama remains on its schedule. Those could be guaranteed losses, so the Tigers may settle for 8-4 and a spot just inside the top 25 at the season’s end.

No. 9: Washington

Washington pushed forward with an easy win on Saturday night, 38-3, over Oregon State. It kept them as a one-loss team, with the ability to move forward in the rankings. Keeping a potential top 10 spot will be tough, as Stanford, Utah and Washington State remain on its schedule. Winning out will keep the Huskies in the hunt for a playoff spot.

No. 8: Wisconsin

Wisconsin received a gift when Ohio State and Penn State fell in Week 10. It opened the gates for advancement in the rankings and toward Big 12 Championship Game. The Badgers, as of this writing, won’t play a ranked team for the rest of the season. However, after Iowa’s domination of the Buckeyes, that might change in Week 11 and provide a test.

No. 7: Miami

Miami played terrific defensive football against Virginia Tech, getting an impressive win over the No. 13-ranked team. This should vault the Hurricanes into the top 10, nearing the College Football Football Playoff picture. A game against Notre Dame nears, though, which will decide the fate of both teams’ seasons.

No. 6: TCU

After falling to Iowa State, TCU rebounded, with a win over Texas. This stabilized its positioning in the rankings, with the opportunity to move up after the top 10 teams that lost. This puts the Horned Frogs in play for the College Football Playoff but will need some luck in the next few weeks. It could happen in the Big 12 Championship Game.
