The Jacksonville Jaguars star running back Leonard Fournette is being held out of Sunday’s game due to a violation of team rules.

Many fantasy football players and Jacksonville Jaguars fans were looking forward to seeing star running back Leonard Fournette back in action.

The Jaguars were on a bye week last week and Fournette missed the previous week due to an injury.

Everyone expected him back for Week 9 and Fournette is healthy enough to play … except he seems to have broken a team rule.

This is certainly an interesting choice by Marrone. The culture and how a team is run is hugely important, especially on a young squad trying to establish itself in the league. At the same time, Fournette is very important to the Jaguars team trying to fight for a playoff berth in the AFC South.

The Jaguar offense hasn’t been able to trust QB Blake Bortles at all this season. With the uncertainty of the passing game, Fournette has taken on a massive role from Week 1. In the last game they played, backups Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon were just OK. Yeldon broke off a long run but that was about it.

There is no word yet on what type of rule Fournette broke but to hold him out, it likely wasn’t minor. This move speaks to Marrone wanting to prove no player is more important than the team. It’s a gutsy move, especially in a tough matchup today against the Cincinnati Bengals.

This game could have a big implication down the line for a possible Wild Card berth. It could boil down to a tie-breaker scenario between these two teams by the end of the season.

This move is a big shock for Week 9 and we’ll see if Marrone regrets his decision. The Jaguars are certainly a worse team with Fournette off the field. Hopefully for Jacksonville fans, this calculated risk pays off.
