Alabama had no problem at home with LSU on Saturday night.

All year long, this Alabama Crimson Tide defense has been talked about as the best defensive unit in the entire country. Saturday night, Nick Saban and his team showed exactly why people are saying those things. The Tide just beat up the LSU Tigers on both sides of the ball and earned a 24-10 victory.

Even though Alabama won this game, they were outgained in total yardage, 299-306. They won the game the way they always do. They took advantage of the other team’s mistakes and were able to limit the opposing offense from providing a threat.

Alabama’s offense did not put up the biggest numbers, but they were able to get the job done behind an impressive defense and Jalen Hurts just playing it safe.

3 takeaways:

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it

Alabama is never going to be the flashiest team, and they are never going to put up a ton of points. The way that Alabama is going to win football games is what you just watched. They are going to run an offense that does not take many chances, and leave their hope in the defense. Saturday, that plan worked to perfection again.

Jalen Hurts didn’t take any chances against this stingy LSU defense — he just took what the defense gave him, which is exactly what Nick Saban wants from him. The defensive side of the ball also capitalized on turnovers, which is always expected from this team.

Alabama just has their method of winning, and they displayed that again on Saturday in the win over LSU in Tuscaloosa.

LSU has more than Derrius Guice at its disposal

Derrius Guice, coming into the year, was being looked at as one of the best running backs in the entire country. Now, he has proven he is, but LSU has found multiple people it can depend on to carry this team.

D.J. Chark and Darrel Williams were the ones who were able to spread out this Crimson Tide defense. Chark was able to continuously break down Alabam by going down the field and getting loose over the top of the defense. In the third quarter, LSU was finally able to break into the end zone, courtesy of a 54-yard run by Darrel Williams.

Guice is not the only one the Tigers have to depend on to get them into the end zone, as both Chark and Williams Saturday were the ones able to break down this Tide defense just enough. If the Tigers can get both of those guys the ball consistently as the year goes on, their offense will become that much more dynamic the rest of the way.

Is there anyone that can defeat Alabama?

Up until this point, the closest game the Crimson Tide have had this year was a 27-19 victory over the Texas A&M Aggies. But, other than that, none of their games have really even been close. Is this going to be another year that Alabama could waltz their way into the National Championship Game? Right now, it sure is looking like it.

Alabama, up until this point, has outscored their opponents 344- 78. While there will be small tests along the way, like  No. 16 Mississippi State and No. 14 Auburn, it sure looks like no one has the skills or talent to hang with the Tide this year. The one team that seems they will be able to hang is the Georgia Bulldogs, but they won’t be able to matchup with them until the SEC Championship Game, so we have to wait a bit for that.

If the Tide win that again, they will be back in the College Football Playoff, right where they were projected to be before the season even started.
