The Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles both score 51 points in their Week 9 routs. Here are the updated NFL standings heading into Week 10.

Week 9 of the 2017 NFL season was certainly an interesting one. It was a week of blowouts and on-field skirmishes. We’re starting to have good teams and bad teams emerge. However, we need a little more time before we cross off a few more teams besides the Cleveland Browns, the New York Giants, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the San Francisco 49ers.

With the Detroit Lions winning over their NFC North rival Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football, let’s take a few minutes to look at each divisional race and the playoff picture in both conferences.

Here are the updated standings heading into Week 10 of the 2017 NFL season.

AFC East

  1. New England Patriots (6-2)
  2. Buffalo Bills (5-3)
  3. Miami Dolphins (4-4)
  4. New York Jets (4-5)

New England leads the AFC East by a game over Buffalo. Miami is two games back of New England, with New York only 2.5 games back of the Patriots. From top to bottom, raise your hand if you thought the AFC East would be the deepest division in football entering Week 10. Exactly.

AFC North

  1. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2)
  2. Baltimore Ravens (4-5)
  3. Cincinnati Bengals (3-5)
  4. Cleveland Browns (0-8)

Pittsburgh leads the AFC North by 2.5 games over Baltimore. Cincinnati is three games back of the Steelers. Cleveland is completely out of it six games behind Pittsburgh in the AFC North standings. Unless Baltimore comes to life in the second half, this should be a cakewalk for the Steelers to win the division.

AFC South

  1. Tennessee Titans (5-3)
  2. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)
  3. Houston Texans (3-5)
  4. Indianapolis Colts (3-6)

Tennessee holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Jacksonville in the AFC South race. Houston is two games back of the Titans and Jaguars. Indianapolis is 2.5 games back of Tennessee and Jacksonville. It’s looking more like the AFC South will be getting two teams into the AFC playoffs this season.

AFC West

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (6-3)
  2. Oakland Raiders (4-5)
  3. Los Angeles Chargers (3-5)
  4. Denver Broncos (3-5)

Kansas City is the top team in the AFC West, as the Chiefs have a two-game lead over Oakland. Both Los Angeles and Denver are 2.5 games back of Kansas City. Though it will be a competitive race the rest of the way, the AFC West may only get one team into the AFC playoffs. Definitely not both wild card teams.

If the season ended after Week 9, here would be the playoff seeds. Pittsburgh would have home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. New England would get a first-round bye as the No. 2 seed. Kansas City and Tennessee would host playoff games as the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, respectively. The two Wild Card teams would be Jacksonville and Buffalo at No. 5 and No. 6.

NFC East

  1. Philadelphia Eagles (8-1)
  2. Dallas Cowboys (5-3)
  3. Washington Redskins (4-4)
  4. New York Giants (1-7)

Philadelphia is emerging as a dominant team. The Eagles lead the Cowboys by 2.5 games in the NFC East standings. Washington is 3.5 games back of the Eagles. New York is so out of it at 6.5 games back of Philadelphia. All but the Giants could be in the mix to make the NFC playoffs out of the NFC East this season.

NFC North

  1. Minnesota Vikings (6-2)
  2. Detroit Lions (4-4)
  3. Green Bay Packers (4-4)
  4. Chicago Bears (3-5)

Minnesota leads the NFC North by two games over both the Lions and the Packers. Chicago is three games back of the Vikings. This should be Minnesota’s division to win now that Aaron Rodgers is out with a broken collarbone for Green Bay. Keep an eye on Detroit and a feisty Bears team going forward.

NFC South

  1. New Orleans Saints (6-2)
  2. Carolina Panthers (6-3)
  3. Atlanta Falcons (4-4)
  4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-6)

The Saints are on fire, having won six games in a row. However, they only lead the Panthers by half a game in the NFC South standings. Atlanta is two games back of New Orleans. Tampa Bay is largely out of it four games back of the Saints. Look for the NFC South to potentially get a wild card team in this season.

NFC West

  1. Los Angeles Rams (6-2)
  2. Seattle Seahawks (5-3)
  3. Arizona Cardinals (4-4)
  4. San Francisco 49ers (0-9)

With the Seahawks losing at home to the Redskins, the Rams now lead the NFC West by a game over Seattle. Arizona is still in the divisional race at only two games back of Los Angeles. San Francisco is still winless and 6.5 games back of the Rams in the NFC West. The 49ers may win two games this year.

If the season ended today, here would be the playoff seeding in the NFC. Philadelphia would have home-field advantage as the top seed in the conference. New Orleans would have a first-round bye as the No. 2 seed. Minnesota and Los Angeles would host playoff games as the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, respectively. The two Wild Card teams would be the Panthers and the Cowboys as the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds.
