Allen Lazard dazzled everyone in Ames on Saturday with this insane touchdown catch against Oklahoma State.
Iowa State’s Allen Lazard is maybe one of the best wide receivers in the country that you don’t know about. He might not have the gaudy stats that will make your eyes pop out when you see them, but make no mistake about it, he is one of the best pass-catchers in the country. He can come down with some pretty insane catches at times.
Saturday as the Cyclones take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys at home in Ames, he made what was definitely his best catch of the year, and it was also one of the best catches this season.
With Iowa State in a battle with the Pokes and looking to take the lead back, Lazard hauled in this absolutely crazy touchdown catch off the tip, somehow making sure that he kept himself in bounds in the process.
Everything about this play is just astonishing, from the concentration to actually make the catch off the tip to keeping himself in bounds. Lazard has continually come through for this team this season when they’ve needed him, but he was maybe never more impressive in that department than he was on this catch here.
The Cyclones have been having an incredible Big 12 season thus far under the direction of second-year head coach Matt Campbell, and the play of Lazard is a good reason for that. They’ve had to shuffle around the quarterbacks this year, even having to do so in this game, but he has stayed consistent no matter who is out there tossing him the rock.
