The 2017 Florida Gators are having a no good, very bad football season. This play versus the South Carolina Gamecocks is Florida’s lost season in essence.

Not since the worst parts of the Will Muschamp era have the Florida Gators wanted their season to end so badly. Florida is an awful 3-5 by Gators’ standards. The university has already fired its head coach Jim McElwain after two plus seasons.

Now they face being knocked out of contention for a holiday season bowl if they lose to the SEC East rival South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia. Keep in mind that Florida will only play 11 games this season because the Week 2 game versus Northern Colorado was canceled due to Hurricane Irma wreaking havoc in South Florida.

If you want to see what 2017 Gator football was in a nutshell, this is the definitive play of arguably the worse season in Florida history. What a disaster this play and season has been for Florida. They can’t even pick the football off right.

Already down 7-0 to the rival Gamecocks early in the first quarter, Florida has South Carolina pinned deep in its own territory. Florida is able to pick off South Carolina quarterback Jake Bentley for what should have been a game-tying pick-six.

C.J. Henderson had the football and was rumbling and stumbling towards that South Carolina end zone. At about the South Carolina three-yard line, he would fumble the football. South Carolina running back A.J. Turner would pick up the Henderson fumble and take it forward for about a 20-yard gain.

That play was peak 2017 Florida. This is a team that needs to win ball games by scoring defensive touchdowns. They could even get that right on Saturday afternoon in Columbia. It was a heads up move by South Carolina to not give up on the play. Man, Florida is a complete mess right now.
