The Michigan State Spartans face the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday, Nov. 11 in Week 11 of college football. Here’s how to watch online.
The Big Ten’s playoff hopes may be all but done, but don’t tell Ohio State and Michigan State that this game means nothing. Of course, when they face each other in Ohio Stadium, there will be something to play for. The winner will have a firm grasp of first place in the Big Ten East division, and will be in pole position to play in the Championship Game, likely against Wisconsin.
For Michigan State, this season has seen a remarkable turnaround from a year ago when they finished with a 3-9 record. Given Mark Dantonio’s track record, it was easy to believe that 2016 was an anomaly, and he has proven that by winning virtually every big game this season.
Ohio State fans, meanwhile, will no doubt be disappointed with the way this season has played out. Despite having NFL talent on both sides of the field, they will ultimately be defined by their two losses. Even though Oklahoma is one of the best teams in the country, they should’ve been better prepared for them at home. The Iowa game, meanwhile, was one of the most stunning results we’ve seen all season.
That’s why the Buckeyes will be eager to go out and win while they can still play for something. They opened up as 16-point favorites over the Spartans, which makes little sense given the recent history between these two. Even when Michigan State was 3-9 last year, that game was decided by one point. Neither team has truly blown out the other since 2008, while 2007 was the last time Ohio State won this game at home.
