The array of characters present in Justice League will dwarf those of any other movie in the DC universe to this date. Heres a preview that may help you keep them straight.

As a team-up movie, Justice League necessarily has a large cast list. Nearly every character from the DC Comics universe makes an appearance in the movie. Let’s take a look at the characters, and the actors who will bring them to life.

Many of these characters have appeared in previous DC movies, but not all of them. Justice League will also serve to introduce another generation of superhero, so DC can use them to fuel movie franchises for the conceivable future. So, without further delay, let’s take a look at the major players in the highly anticipated movie.

Ben Affleck as Batman

Batman is the presumptive leader of the team. He can be seen recruiting others in some of the promotional clips for the film. Affleck has portrayed Batman before, fist appearing in Batman v. Superman Dawn of Justice. He also made a cameo in Suicide Squad, and a Batman solo movie has been announced.

Henry Cavill as Superman

Though Superman appeared to die in Dawn of Justice, comic book heroes never stay down for long. The character has not appeared in any of the promotional material for the movie, but Cavill’s presence in the film is a given. He first appeared as Superman in Man of Steel, and has another, as yet untitled, movie on the way.

Amy Adams as Lois Lane

Where Superman goes, Lois Lane will inevitable follow. What remains uncertain is how she will be involved. Undoubtably it will be linked to the reappearance of Superman, but I am more interested in what she has been doing for herself since his ‘death’.

Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman made her first appearance in the DC movie verse in Dawn of Justice, and her solo movie was one of the biggest hits of the summer. A Wonder Woman 2 movie has already been announced.

Ezra Miller as Flash

This will be the first time that Ezra Miller’s Flash has had any significant screen time in DC movies. Previously the character has had cameo appearances in Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. Flashpoint, a movie focused on the character will (theoretically) come out in 2020.

Jason Mamoa as Aquaman

Aquaman is another character who made his first appearance in Dawn of Justice, and has his own movie coming out next year.

Ray Fisher as Cyborg

Cyborg is a unique character in this movie, because his powers come from technology rather than superhuman abilities. He also appeared in Dawn of Justice. A cyborg solo film has been announced, and he may also appear in Flashpoint

Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth

While not a superhero, per say, Alfred is Batman’s butler, and in some ways his closest friend.

Diane Lane as Martha Kent

Martha is the woman who adopted Superman after he was abandoned on earth. She has appeared in all of the films featuring Superman, beginning with Man of Steel.

Connie Nielson as Hippolyta

Hippolyta is the queen of the Amazons, and the mother of Diana (Wonder Woman) in the comics. Rather unsurprisingly, Nielson first appeared in the role in Wonder Woman this summer, and is may return in Wonder Woman 2.

J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon

A member of the Gotham City police, Commissioner Gordon is one of Batman’s allies. It remains to be seen exactly what role he plays in Justice League, because the film does not really take place in Gotham City. Simmons will return as the Commissioner in the upcoming Batman solo film.

Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf

The presumptive villain of the movie, Steppenwolf is the commander of an alien invasion. However he may not be completely satisfied with his role in the conflict. As is often the case with villains in movies like Justice League this isn’t Steppenwulf’s first appearance.

Joe Morton as Silas Stone

Silas Stone is a scientist at  S.T.A.R. Labs and the father of Cyborg (he was on known as Victor Stone). Seeing as Cyborg is slated to appear in the upcoming Flashpoint movie it would not be surprising to see Silas Stone there as well.

Robin Wright as Antiope

Antiope is the sister of Hippolyta and aunt of Wonder Woman. As such, Shevardnadze was featured in Wonder Woman earlier this year, and will presumably appear in Wonder Woman 2.

Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor

The perennial foe of Superman, Lex Luthor has so far avoided the fate of most villains in superhero movies: death. He was even temporarily victorious, killing Superman in Dawn of Justice. We know (or at least assume) that Superman doesn’t stay dead though, so he and Luthor may face off again in Justice League.

Amber Heard

Heard will play the wife of Aquaman, and queen of Atlantis. Though Justice League is the characters first appearance on the big screen, she will return in the Aquaman solo movie next year.

Billy Crudup as Henry Allen

Henry Allen is the father of Barry Allen, aka the Flash. This is the characters first appearance in a DC movie, but he will return in Flashpoint.

Kiersey Clemons as Iris West

Iris is the love interest of the Flash. Clemons will also return in Flashpoint.

Julian Lewis Jones as King Atlan

As the King of Atlantis, I would assume  Atlan will interact with Aquaman quite a bit. This is his first appearence in a DC movie, but he will presumably return in next years Aquaman movie.
