Marvin Bagley injury: Duke freshman star exits game vs. Michigan State
By Jack Crosby
Marvin Bagley III exited the game on Tuesday night against the Michigan State Spartans after suffering an injury.
In the first game of the Champions Classic on Tuesday night, the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils are taking on the No. 2 Michigan State Spartans in one of the most anticipated games early here in the college basketball season. There is a lot of young talent on the floor in this one, including Duke freshman star Marvin Bagley III.
However, he wasn’t on the floor long in the first half, unfortunately. As the two teams battled in the first half, Bagley went down after what appeared to be being poked in the eye. But, you started to wonder whether or not it might be something a little more serious, as he stayed on the floor for quite a while as the medical staff tended to him.
Bagley was eventually helped up off the floor and walked off under his own power, however, he walked straight to the locker room for further examination.
As you can see, it was a pretty stiff poke to the eye, which left him on the court for several minutes before he was ultimately able to get up and walk to the locker room.
Hopefully, it’s nothing serious for the Blue Devils star. Bagley is one of the brightest young stars in college basketball this year, and most believe he will ultimately become the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft come next June. He’s off to a great start for Coach K and the Blue Devils this season thus far, averaging 24.5 points per game and 10 rebounds.
UPDATE: Bagley is on the bench for the second half, but will not return to the game
As more becomes available on the status of Bagley in this huge showdown, we will keep you updated.
