After being a late addition to the injury report, New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard is inactive for Week 11.

Over two games since returning from an ankle injury, Sterling Shepard has 16 catches for 212 yards on 22 targets as the New York Giants’ No. 1 wide receiver. But he was a late addition to this week’s injury report on Saturday night with an illness, and the second-year man out of Oklahoma is officially inactive for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Eli Manning threw the ball a total of 73 times in Week 9 and Week 10. So Shepard is leaving behind a target share of over 30 percent over that span. The Chiefs entered the week with the NFL’s 28th-ranked pass defense, and as the most generous team to wide receivers from a fantasy football perspective (ESPN PPR scoring), so there’s an opportunity for someone to step up this week.

The obvious new No. 1 target for Manning on Sunday is rookie tight end Evan Engram. He has 19 targets over the last two weeks (good for a 26 percent share), and 31 targets over the last three games.

Roger Lewis caught his first touchdown of the season last week, and Tavarres King has averaged five targets per game over the last two weeks. They are now the Giants’ top two wide receivers, in a game that seems sure to bring some volume-based production for their passing game. Manning has only topped 40 attempts in a game twice this season, but he’s a virtual lock to make it three on Sunday.

If you have Shepard in your Week 11 fantasy lineup, there’s time to get him out. Lewis is a solid plug-and-play in deeper leagues, and he’s got potential as a value play in DFS as you enter contests just before kickoff or have to make a late swap for Shepard.
