The college football recruiting landscape is always changing so let’s catch up with what happened last week in our latest recruiting roundup.

The calendar is getting set to change to December and we are officially in championship and bowl season. College football’s 2017 season has flown by and there has been some incredible action this year to speak of.

However, there is still plenty of action taking place off the field in the recruiting landscape. Top programs such as Alabama, Clemson and USC are outside of the top 10 in team recruiting rankings, but there is plenty of time for those perennial powers to make a push. One of those programs did land a top recruit in Week 12.

Let’s take a look at some of the top stories from our weekly recruiting roundup.

Note: Latest commitments, rankings and scheduled visits come from 247Sports.

USC lands monster defensive tackle

It was a big week for USC not only because the Trojans took down UCLA in a crosstown rivalry, but also because they landed one of the top defensive tackle prospects in the 2018 class. Four-star tackle Trevor Trout from Saint Louis, Mo., is listed as the 16th-best player at the position in the class and No. 185 overall. Clay Helton will have no problem inserting thew 6-foot-3, 315-pound tackle into his defensive line rotation next year.

Kirby Smart remains red-hot

The Georgia recruiting trail, led by head coach Kirby Smart, has been as hot as any in the country. The Bulldogs have been landing top targets left and right and the latest to “Commit to the G” is four-star defensive tackle Jordan Davis picked Georgia over Miami, Michigan, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and others. The Charlotte, N.C., native stands 6-foot-6, weighing 330 pounds and is ranked the No. 311 player in the 2018 class.

Oregon picks up pledge from California tight end

Finding diamonds in the rough on the recruiting trail is hard enough, but it’s even tougher when you have to dip into states like California with USC, UCLA and other top universities to compete with to land talent. Willie Taggart and the Oregon Ducks landed a three-star tight end by the name of Michael Ezeike from Ontario, Calif., last week. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound tight end is listed as the No. 353 overall player in the class and could be a big addition to an up-and-coming program.
