Virginia Cavaliers
6-0 Last Week: NR

It just wouldn’t be a college basketball season without Tony Bennett’s Virginia Cavaliers in the Top 25 and they will jump right back into the mix in Week 4. The Cavaliers are now 6-0 on the season after beating Monmouth, Vanderbilt and Rhode Island in the NIT Tipoff and they look like one of the surprise teas in college basketball.

Gonzaga Bulldogs
5-1 Last Week: 17

It’s tough to even think that Gonzaga will drop after playing in one of the best games of the season over the weekend against Florida, but the Bulldogs have to take a slight dip. They were taken down in overtime by the No. 7 Gators and bounced back to beat a tough Texas team 76-71 in the consolation bracket. That Texas team took Duke to overtime just a couple of days before. The Bulldogs also blew out the Ohio State Buckeyes to start the PK80 early in the week.

Xavier Musketeers
5-1 Last Week: 15

Xavier, led by Trevon Bluiett, lost its first game of the season in Week 3. He’s averaging over 21 points per game through six games and is a top national player of the year candidate, but he will have to figure out how to bounce back from a 16-point loss to Arizona State over the weekend. The Musketeers were able to handle George Washington and Hampton before that loss. They’ll likely drop a few spots, but not too far.

Arizona Wildcats
3-3 Last Week: 2

There may not be a bigger fall in the rankings this season than what we will see from Arizona in Week 4. The Wildcats had arguably the worst week of action since Sean Miller took over as head coach. In fact, they lost three games in the Battle 4 Atlantis to NC State, SMU and Purdue. The last of the three losses was by 25 points to the Boilermakers. It’s time to bounce back and prove this was just a fluke of a week.

Baylor Bears
5-0 Last Week: 22

Baylor is going to see a nice little jump after watching teams like Seton Hall, Saint Mary’s, Gonzaga, Purdue and Xavier lose last week. The Bears added two really nice wins to the resume, beating Wisconsin and Creighton. While neither of those two teams were ranked, they weren’t too far off. Also, those are two tournament-worthy programs. Baylor could be a serious threat to Kansas in the Big 12.
