Tennessee fans are open to the possibility of Mike Gundy leading their football team.

After the Greg Schiano saga on Sunday, Tennessee really needs to be careful with who it evaluates to lead their program. The fans have voiced their power when it comes to making decisions at the University of Tennessee. Luckily for Vols officials, a rumored candidate has already won over the hearts of local fans.

According to reports, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy has held talks with Tennessee about its vacant head coaching position and boy, fans are already having some fun with the potential hire and his hairstyle.

First and foremost, fans love his mullet. Gundy’s mullet has become a staple in college football and it’s become his signature look. Vols fans eat that right up, being in the South. Furthermore, Gundy’s got a ‘clean’ past and a lovable personality. Other than his mullet, Gundy is known for his famous post-game press conferences. Specifically, his “I’m a man” speech 10 years ago where he defended an article about one of his players in a fiery tone. He’s as loyal as they come.

Gundy is a clear-cut football guy, there’s no doubt about it. In addition, he’s a great football coach. Throughout his 13 years as the head man at Oklahoma State, Gundy’s managed to take his team to bowl games in 12 of those years. However, possibly even more impressive is his 113-53 record with the Cowboys.

While at this point, the rumors are just that, there’s no denying having Gundy on an SEC sideline would be entertaining. Imagining the mullet sport a different shade of orange and white up in Knoxville sounds amazing to college football fans everywhere (except Stillwater). But most importantly, fans in Knoxville like the sound of it. For what its worth, it looks as if Tennessee fans are already welcoming Gundy with open arms.
