Oregon made some positive strides on the recruiting trail this week.

The last two weeks since the end of the early signing period have been mostly quiet, as most players who decided not to sign early will be waiting until the spring. Though, there were two massive names that announced their decisions, bringing about some schools who may not be familiar faces amongst the top recruiting classes.

Here is a quick rundown of the notable recruiting stories.

Bol Bol chooses the Ducks

A top-five player in the class, Bol Bol, chose to play his college ball for Oregon next season. Bol joins fellow 5-star Louis King and top-60 player Miles Norris in Oregon’s class. Bol stands at 7-foot-1 and 225 pounds but has a great ability to shoot from deep and handle the ball for his size. The son of Manute Bol, the 5-star is very well known as it is. He will not only draw crowds in bunches but will provide a terrific impact in Dana Altman’s system.

Oregon adds another

Will Richardson, a 4-star guard, announced he would be playing for Coach Altman as well. Richardson is easily one of the more underrated players in the class, adding to a now-loaded Oregon recruiting class. This class is now ranked the best in the country via 247sports, and is not likely to fall much further once its all said and done. Richardson has fringe one-and-done potential, but could also be one of the best players in the country after a year or two. Altman has the Ducks very much on the right track.

Vanderbilt gets another 5 star

Simisola Shittu, a top-10 prospect in the class, announced that he would be heading to Nashville to join the Commodores. Shittu joins five-star Darius Garland and Aaron Nesmith in what is shaping up to be Vanderbilt’s best class ever. Shittu is a do-it-all big man whose athleticism and play style is the mold of a modern day big man. Bryce Drew is building something big over at Vandy, and while their two stars will likely be one-and-done, it will help set a precedent for future recruiting. Look for the Commodores to make serious waves in the SEC next year.

Romeo Langford’s final three explained

Top-five player Romeo Langford recently cut his list to three — Indiana, Vanderbilt, Kansas — and his father gave Adam Zagoria a breakdown of each school. For Indiana, his father basically stated that it is about staying at home, as well liking the fit in Archie Miller’s offense. There is something historic about being the homegrown kid at IU, he says. For Vanderbilt, it’s about Romeo liking Bryce Drew’s offense, and also the respect and knowledge that comes with Drew being a former NBA player as well. As for Kansas, Langford seems to like the dynamic of playing for Bill Self and in a 3 guard system alongside Devon Dotson and Quentin Grimes.
