Jimbo Fisher decided to leave FSU without telling his star QB

Maybe Jimbo Fisher forgot about Deondre Francois since he’s been hurt most of this season, but damn.

Jimbo Fisher is leaving Florida State for a hefty contract to coach Texas A&M. One would assume he told his players about his decision before it got out in the media.

That assumption could be wrong, at least when it comes to the Seminoles’ super talented but injured quarterback, Deondre Francois.

Francois went down with a patellar tendon injury in FSU’s first game of the season, a blow from which the ‘Noles never recovered. Perhaps it was out of sight, out of mind, while Fisher made his big decision, but this shade-throwing subtweet from Francois sure makes it appear he was disappointed that his coach bailed without saying a word:

For extra bonus points, fellow injured signal-caller Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans weighed in with a response.

After Kevin Sumlin got the boot from A&M, speculation ramped up that the school was targeting Fisher after reports that he was unhappy at Florida State. Those rumors became reality this week when Fisher resigned as head coach of the Seminoles and accepted a reported 10-year, $75 million contract to guide the Aggies.

His hiring hasn’t prevented at least one notable recruit from decommitting, though it’s naturally likely his arrival will sway others to think about signing on. Still, he should at least consider the feelings of those he’s leaving behind, particularly, it seems, the young man he expected would be running the show for him this fall.
