In the fourth quarter of the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday night, the turf broke, causing a bit of a delay in the festivities.

The Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday night between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday night, and it has been quite the title game. In the fourth quarter, with the Badgers trailing 24-13, they were looking to get back into the game and keep their playoff hopes alive, which they did. After scoring a short-yardage touchdown, momentum was definitely swinging to their side.

But, that momentum came to a halt. No, it didn’t come to a halt via a failed two-point attempt or blocked extra point. No, it came to a halt because the game had to go through a slight delay. The reasoning for that delay? Well, simply put … the field broke.

No, really, the turf broke on the play. The carpet came up in the end zone, causing the referees to take a look at the conundrum they had on their hands. From there, a field maintenance worker had to make his way onto the field to make the necessary adjustments. In all, the game was delayed for about 10 minutes.

You know what? With all due respect to the players that are on the field Saturday for both Wisconsin and Ohio State, this man performed the best under pressure this evening. With the entire world watching, he went out there and made sure the game would resume as quickly as possible. He is, in fact, the real MVP. Get this man a trophy when the game’s done.

After the turf was fixed, Wisconsin converted the two-point try successfully to pull to within 24-21.

As if this season wasn’t crazy enough as it is.
