Taking a look at what time the final 2017 College Football Playoff Rankings will be released to determine which four teams will play for the title.

After 14 weeks of college football, we’ve finally reached this point in the season. No, it’s not yet time for bowl games to start, and the Heisman Trophy winner has yet to be announced. However, it is time for the four teams who will be competing for the National Championship to be announced. That, of course, comes with the revelation of the final 2017 College Football Playoff Rankings.

The rankings come after the conference championship games were played on the first weekend of December, a few of which dramatically changed things, while others made things just seem like business as usual. In the case of the latter, you need not look further than the ACC and Big 12 Championship games.

By all accounts the Clemson Tigers will be the top team in the final 2017 College Football Playoff rankings when they come out. They went into their matchup at No. 1 and then handled the Hurricanes with authority. You can say the same for Baker Mayfield and the Oklahoma Sooners as well as they handily dispatched the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, Ohio State won the Big Ten.

The monkey wrench in all of this, though, is the Georgia Bulldogs beating the Auburn Tigers in the SEC Championship Game. Not only does this likely knock Auburn out of the top four, but you have to wonder if it opens the door for Alabama to get in.
