For the first time since Nov. 22, Derrick Rose will be back with the Cavaliers as LeBron and company chase a fourth-straight Finals appearance.

Despite rumors of a mid-season retirement, Derrick Rose will reportedly rejoin the Cavaliers this week.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted Tuesday, saying Rose would be traveling to Cleveland to meet with the Cavs front office. Rose has taken a self-imposed break from the team. He has only played in seven games for the Cavs this season and has not seen action since Nov. 7.

Reports say Rose has been nursing an ankle injury which happened in Cleveland’s second game of the season. Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue spoke at the team’s shootaround at the United Center where the Cavs play the Bulls tonight. Lue says all players are happy for Rose and would like him to be a part of the team.

However, Cleveland will be without the Chicago native for at least a couple of more weeks. Lue also said Rose is beginning his rehab at the Cavs practice facility back in Cleveland Monday.

Since Rose has been sidelined, the Cavs are 11-1 and climbing the Eastern Conference standings. Will Rose fit right into the rotation? Or will Lue keep going with the recent group he has put together?

Although LeBron James recently won Eastern Conference Player of the Month for an NBA record 35th time, he can use all the help he can get. Cleveland continues to chase Boston for the East’s top spot as we near the one-third mark of the season.

It is not clear just how much playing time Rose will receive. Isaiah Thomas is due back later this season and Rose is only aging. In the meantime, the Cavs put an 11-game win streak on the line against division rival Chicago tonight.
