Bryce Love burst onto the scene in 2017, becoming the most dominant rusher in college football, and here is why the Stanford running back should win the Heisman Trophy.

The phenomenon that is Bryce Love has reached its peak, and after an incredible 2017 campaign, Love has himself in position to take home the coveted Heisman Trophy. Love and his Stanford Cardinal teammates had a successful year, making it all the way to the Pac-12 Championship Game, though they lost in a thriller to the USC Trojans, 31-28. Stanford had to overcome the loss of a lot of talent from last year’s team, and thanks to Love, they were able to keep the program moving forward.

Love was a four-star recruit out of Wake Forest (NC) High School, where he was not only a football star but also a track prodigy. Over the first two years of his collegiate career, Love played backup to Christian McCaffrey, who was one of the best running backs in the history of the Pac-12. Love got his chance to shine a bit last season, filling in when McCaffrey was hurt and decided to sit out their bowl game, so Cardinal fans had an idea of what was to come in 2017.

Many expected Love to be a good player this season, but few could have predicted how dominant he would be from the running back position. He set records, put up gaudy numbers, and in the process, became the leader on the field for the Cardinal. He can declare for the 2018 NFL Draft is he wants to turn pro, and if this is his only season as the starting running back for Stanford, he put together a season that will not be forgotten.

With their loss in the Pac-12 title game, the Cardinal will not have to wait and see who they play in their bowl game. As we inch closer to finding out who will host the Heisman Trophy later this month, here are a few reasons why it should be Bryce Love.
