Army and Navy battled on Saturday in the 118th edition of the best rivalry in college football.

When it comes to rivalries in not just college football but sports in general, one of the first that comes to mind is the one that belongs to this nation. Each year, with the entire stage to themselves, the Army Black Knights and Navy Midshipmen take the football field against one another in one of the best spectacles that you will ever see.

Last season, Army dramatically snapped a 14-game losing streak to Navy, and after Saturday, now have a streak of its own.

Navy controlled the first three quarters, which was highlighted by a dazzling 68-yard scoring run from the Midshipmen’s Malcolm Perry. But, much like they did last year, Army made the big play late when it counted. With 5:10 to go in the game, Army quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw ran one in from 1 yard out to give the Black Knights the 14-13 lead. Navy had a chance on a final drive in the fourth to win the game, but a 48-yard field goal attempt by the Midshipmen was just short, securing the second win in a row for the Black Knights.

Highlights

Three Stars

3. The weather

Yes, it’s not often that you will cite weather conditions as a star of the game, but it most certainly fits for the Army-Navy game that took place on Saturday afternoon. This annual football contest is always a spectacle to watch on its own, but the snowy weather in Philly just added so much to the allure of it all.

From the military festivities before the contest to the game itself, the snow falling gently throughout would lead you to believe everything we saw on Saturday belongs in a museum with its own wing.

2. Ahmad Bradshaw, QB, Army

Bradshaw has been outstanding all season long, and he was that once again against Navy in the win. The Black Knights quarterback finished the game with 94 yards on the ground on 21 carries. But, what really made him the star of the game was ripping off two big runs on the game-winning drive and then finishing it all off with the 1-yard TD.

Oh … and he was 1-of-1 passing for 20 yards. That alone earns him a spot on this list.

1. Malcolm Perry, QB, Navy

If there was anyone who put on an absolute show on Saturday afternoon, it was Navy quarterback Malcolm Perry. The sophomore made a statement against rival Army and to the world that next season he could become a legitimate Heisman contender.

Despite the crushing loss, no one will forget what Perry did on this day. He rushed for 250 yards on 30 carries, including the aforementioned touchdown run which was the most impressive play of the game.

Perry, next season, is going to be an absolute delight to watch.
