Amari Cooper’s ankle injury against the Chiefs on Sunday was so brutal you could hear him scream on the broadcast.

Oakland Raiders fans — an Amari Cooper fantasy owners — are collectively moaning in agony with word that the wide receiver suffered an ankle injury on Sunday in Kansas City. The Raiders, who are playing for their playoff lives, needed Cooper healthy enough to be apart of the action but needed him to stay on the field.

It might end up being that neither of those things ended up playing out.

In the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Chiefs, Cooper got rolled up on and immediately screamed in pain. The screams could be heard on the broadcast, which didn’t bode well for this status.

Cooper probably shouldn’t even have been playing on Sunday, following injuries he’s suffered this season. Oakland up against the ropes as far as their playoff future is concerned, so having Cooper back was a move that almost needed to happen.

That doesn’t mean he was ready to play, however. Cooper was clearly healthy enough to medically cleared, but almost a full season’s worth of wear-and-tear on his body — plus the injuries — doesn’t make for an ideal situation.
