Carson Wentz left Week 14 early after taking a shot late in the third quarter.

A sight that no Philadelphia Eagles fan wants to see is Carson Wentz leaving a game early with an injury. That’s what happened Week 14 in Los Angeles, as Wentz exited late in the third quarter after taking a hard hit on a touchdown run that was ultimately called back.

Wentz dove head first into the endzone on a scramble that would ahve counted as a go-ahead score in a tight game against the Rams. Wentz didn’t leave the game immediately after the hit, instead remaining on the field to throw an incredible touchdown pass to Alshon Jeffery.

As incredible as that play was, however, everyone is zeroing in on the play that Wentz seemingly suffered his injury on.

Initially, whatever Wentz was being evaluated for wasn’t the point. All thoughts went to the fear of what the Eagles — the NFC’s top seed right now — looks like without its MVP candidate quarterback. Without him, the team instantly becomes worse than it was — which is no real knock on Nick Foles so much as it is simply a fact of the matter.

As it turns out, the injury he was brought to the locker room for was a knee injury, and Wentz was almost immediately ruled out for the rest of the game. That’s a very bad sign, as the immediate fear goes to whether it’s an ACL injury or not.

UPDATE: According to FOX sideline reporter Erin Andrews, the Eagles support and medical staff that evaluated Wentz were seen shaking their heads. That’s not the sign you’re looking for if you’re an Eagles fan.

We don’t know that much just yet, but hopefully, Wentz’s MVP season hasn’t been cut short before we could really see what they are made of.
