Steelers chant Ryan Shazier’s number before Ravens game (Video)

Just one week after Ryan Shazier’s scary injury against the Bengals, the Steelers were showing their support for their injured teammate.

The Pittsburgh Steelers may not have Ryan Shazier in their lineup for their Sunday Night Football matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, but they made sure to have him in the huddle before the game got going.

Shazier went down with a bad back injury last week that took him out of action against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night in the Steelers’ 23-20 win, and has been a large topic of conversation around the league after the severity of his injury. He was out of action for the game against the Ravens, and there are plenty of questions surrounding his future in the sport.

With that in mind, the Steelers did their part to make sure Shazier stayed with the team even when he wasn’t there. With James Harrison leading the way, fellow Steelers huddled around Harrison chanting “5-0” in honor of Shazier’s number.

Shazier has been in plenty of players and fans’ hearts and prayers throughout the last week, and he has seen a ton show support for him in Week 14. In a visible way, Duke Johnson Jr. dropped down to his knees in the Cleveland Browns’ game against the Green Bay Packers after scoring a touchdown, signaling his prayers for Shazier.

The Steelers are obviously playing with Shazier in mind, and it was nice to see the team put a little tribute together for their teammate before a huge game against a divisional rival on the primetime stage.

The move must have worked, at least for the first half, as the Steelers defense stayed in control as they went into halftime up 20-14 on the Ravens at home. Now, they’ll hope they can channel the talent of Shazier as they hope to pull out the win on Sunday Night Football in Week 14.
