2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold lead the way
By Brad Weiss
The 2018 NFL Draft is only four months away, so lets take a look at what the first round might look like if the NFL season ended today.
Incredibly, we are already 14 weeks through the 2017 NFL season, and the playoffs are on the horizon. When it comes to futility, nobody can match the Cleveland Browns, though the New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts are taking a stab at it. The Browns lost in overtime this past Sunday, moving their record to 0-13 on the season, with a real chance to finish the year without a win on the board.
If the season ended tomorrow, the Browns would pick first overall, which is nothing new to this franchise. Lets take a look at what the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft looks like as we head to Week 15.
The Cleveland Browns are still without a win through the first 13 games of the 2017 NFL season, and their latest loss was a tough one. The hapless Browns led nearly the entire game against the Green Bay Packers, and looked to have their first win secured late in the fourth quarter. Then they realized they were the Browns, blew a 14-point lead, and went on to lose in overtime.
As they look towards the 2018 NFL Draft, at least there is some hope on the horizon. John Dorsey, who did a wonderful job in Kansas City, has taken over as general manager, giving the Browns a legitimate front office executive making decisions. He will likely go with a quarterback to start his new regime in Cleveland, and Josh Rosen should be the choice at the first overall selection next April.
Rosen has the talent to make all the throws, and he has the mental makeup to deal with the losses that go along with playing in Cleveland. Thanks to their trade with the Houston Texans during the 2017 NFL Draft, the Browns have two of the top six picks in 2018, as the Texans continue to lose. The organization has a ton of picks in 2018, and they need to make sure they get the most important one right.
