The reigning Eastern Conference champion Cavaliers (20-8) host the youthful Los Angeles Lakers (10-16) Thursday night. Here’s how to watch this inter-conference NBA game online via live streaming.

Since opening their 2017-18 campaign with a rocky 5-7 start, the Cavaliers are once again looking like the defending Eastern Conference champs. They’ve won 15 of their last 16 games. Additionally, franchise centerpiece LeBron James, who can test free agency after the season, is balling out, even by his own lofty standards. Following his 30-point, 13-assist, 13-rebound, three-steal performance against Ben Simmons and the 76ers Saturday, the Chosen One became the first player since John Stockton to make at least 10 shots, shoot better than 80 percent from the field and record 15 or more assists in a game (Stockton accomplished the feat over 21 years ago).

For their part, the Lakers have been inconsistent, an unsurprising hallmark of many young teams. For every impressive game won, the Lakers have at least one loss in which their late-game performance left much to be desired. NBA.com measures team performance in the clutch, defined by the last five minutes of regulation and/or overtime in which the teams are separated by five points or fewer. In these moments, the Lakers’ much-improved defense typically falls apart, allowing 122.8 points per 100 possessions.

Widely discussed rookie Lonzo Ball has mightily struggled to find his shooting stroke (32.7 percent from the field and 48.6 percent at the line) as a pro, although he has been active in creating opportunities for teammates, rebounding and deflecting balls (no pun intended) on the defensive end. Ball’s shooting has improved over the last two weeks but still has a long way to go.

Second-year forward Brandon Ingram, also a former No. 2 pick, represents one of the Lakers’ best storylines of the young season. Thursday, he’ll be looking to shake off a dreadful Tuesday night in Madison Square Garden in which he committed as many turnovers as points scored (five), missed 10 of 12 shot attempts and earned just a single free throw. In last season’s two losses to Cleveland, Ingram played a combined 81 minutes and went for 18 points and six rebounds in the final meeting.

Thursday’s game begins a brutal four-game stretch for the Lakers in which they face the Cavaliers, Warriors (twice) and Rockets. Those three opponents boast three of the league’s top four records, and to make matters worse, three of the four games are on the road where Los Angeles has won just four times this season. Leading up to Cleveland’s Christmas meeting with the Warriors, it will host the Lakers and Jazz, travel to Washington, D.C., and Milwaukee and then host the Chicago Bulls. Then, the Cavaliers will have three days off before playing the defending champions on national TV.

The game will be televised regionally on Fox Sports Ohio in addition to the national TNT broadcast. The available live streams will be provided by TNT and Fubo TV. Fans in the Los Angeles area can listen live on 710 ESPN or 1330 AM Deportes. Those in Cleveland can listen live in English on ESPN WTAM 1110 or 100.7 WMMS, or in Spanish on 87.7 FM. Fans beyond those areas can listen live with NBA League Pass, NBA Team Pass, or NBA Team Pass Audio.
