Depending on which side of the political ticket you fall, the FCC’s vote and impending backlash regarding Net Neutrality may or may not be a big deal. Though a basketball games of the week column is the perfect spot to discuss it, I’m not here to persuade you one way or the other.

Basically, Net Neutrality is about a free and open internet. If you have access to a broadband connection, whether it be WiFi or direct to a cable modem or router, you have access to every site on the interwebs, even the ones that will land you on some government watchlist. That means you can stream Breaking Bad on Netflix while you shop on Amazon and dash to NBA.com when you randomly want to know if Allen Iverson ever shot 35 percent on 3-pointers in his career. (He did. Once, in 2009-10. He made nine of 25 attempts, good for 36 percent.)

Without Net Neutrality, there’s an extra step, usually in the form of another charge. If we’re to follow the model presented by a country like Portugal, without Net Neutrality, then access to apps will come straight from the cable and internet providers. Want to stream Hulu? Odds are you’ll have to pay a little more each month to ensure you can have access to the app and the bandwith to support streaming. You know how much of a pain buffering can be.

So what’s this have to do with basketball? Well I’m glad you asked. The games of the week are no longer free. But, if you’d like access to any one particular section of this week’s selections, we have a few packages you can choose from.
