Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Fighting Irish announce early signing day class
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish certainly seem close to being back to their former glory, and their early signing day class could help them further.
For the briefest of moments, it appeared that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were heading to the College Football Playoff. Despite all of the ire that fans have wrought down upon head coach Brian Kelly over the years, he finally turned a corner this season. Of course, things didn’t go their way down the home stretch, but it’s hard to deny the quality of the Irish this season.
However, when it comes to a school like Notre Dame and one of the classic programs in all of college football, it’s hard to think about just one year as being enough. This is a program that is built on being a powerhouse, one that should compete for a National Championship every single year. As such, it’s all about sustaining this level of success.
That’s exactly what Kelly is trying to do, restoring the prestige and the name of Notre Dame. He’s been doing a fine job of it, and he may have one of his best classes yet coming in for 2018, and that’s just at the early signing day period.

The Fighting Irish have clearly had a good early run in the recruiting process. While they’ve still not yet landed a 5-star player, they are littered with high-end 4-stars would could really make an impact. Phil Jurkovec looks like a potential stud that will fit right into what Brian Kelly likes to do. What’s more, they’ve added to their defense in big ways, which is promising considering how that unit performed in 2017.
