NFL roundup: 2018 Pro Bowl roster announced

The NFL regular season is finishing up over the next two weeks, and on Tuesday, the league announced the rosters for the 2018 Pro Bowl.

The NFL announced the rosters for the 2018 Pro Bowl on Tuesday, and there were plenty of Pittsburgh Steelers named. In total, the Steelers led all NFL teams with eight selections, including quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz was named the starting quarterback for the NFC, which is a huge accomplishment considering he is only in his second season, though he will miss the game due to his torn ACL.

Cam Newton is not happy that Jerry Richardson may sell the Carolina Panthers, as he stood behind the owner who drafted him this week. Richardson has given up day to day operations of the team due to alleged workplace misconduct, handing the reins over to Tina Becker. The Panthers have come on strong this season after missing the playoffs in 2016, and look to be a team who could challenge to make their second Super Bowl in the last three seasons.

The Cleveland Browns are currently sitting at 0-14 on the year, and have a real shot to join the Detroit Lions as the only team in NFL history to  go 0-16 in a full 16-game schedule. Running back Isaiah Crowell has been a constant in the lineup since 2014, as he has yet to miss a game since making his debut. However, he has seen a diminished role as of late, rushing only five times last week, and would like to have a more prominent role in the offense moving forward.

Deshaun Watson was a first round selection of the Houston Texans this past April, and he showed he deserved to be picked that high once he entered the starting lineup. However, he blew out his knee in a non-contact play in practice, and the team has gone 1-6 in his absence. With head coach Bill O’Brien’s job on the line, Watson recently said he would like to play for O’Brien when he returns next season, which is a ringing endorsement from a player who could wind up being the best quarterback in franchise history.

The Atlanta Falcons pulled off a big victory on Monday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as they kept their playoff hopes alive. On Wednesday, there were some big faces missing from practice, including Julio Jones, who is battling an ankle injury. Running back Tevin Coleman was also out due to the fact he is still dealing with a concussion, so there is a chance the Falcons will be shorthanded when they take on the New Orleans Saints in a huge NFC South matchup on Sunday.
