Vancouver Canucks – Tiger Williams

If you thought the infamous Tiger Williams was going to miss this list, you’re crazy. No list including the great enforcers of the sport would be without the NHL’s all-time leader in penalty minutes. Tiger Williams is truly a name synonymous with fighting in the sport of hockey.

To put things into perspective for those of you who do not know him, Tiger Williams is arguably the meanest and toughest fighter in NHL history. He is second all-time in penalty minutes for the Toronto Maple Leafs, fifth all-time for the Canucks and just outside the top ten for the Los Angeles Kings.

And even though Williams is regularly associated with the Leafs, his time in the Pacific Northwest was no different. He would play in Vancouver from 1979-80 until he departed for The Motor City  during the 1984-85 season. During this time he would play in 312 games, rack up a total of 1,324 penalty minutes and would even have his second highest single season penalty minute total, with 343 in 77 games during the 1980-81 season.

What made Williams’ enforcing abilities all the more impressive is that it wasn’t the only dimension of his game. He would score 241 goals and add 272 assists to his name during his 962-game NHL career. He was truly one of the most feared men of his time, and he was able to compliment it with some skill as well, something very few men on this list can say.

Williams was truly one of the best fighters in the history of the NHL, and it is because of that fact that he is the undisputed fighting king of the Pacific Northwest.
