Does FedEx deliver on Christmas Eve?

If you’re waiting for a Christmas present to be delivered, you’ll want to make sure you know whether or not FedEx will be making deliveries on Christmas Eve.

With Christmas 2017 falling on a Monday, the mail and delivery schedule is completely thrown off for anyone waiting for last minute gifts to be delivered. When it comes to FedEx deliveries on Christmas Eve, there will be no deliveries made on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

All FedEx storefronts and pick up locations will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. What’s more is that Saturday will be limited to modified service for FedEx Express deliveries and home deliveries, but neither FedEx Ground nor FedEx Smart Post will be be available.

The United States Postal Service will also be closed over Christmas Eve, along with UPS. That means all mail will be sitting in place at the end of business on Saturday and won’t pick up again until Tuesday. Couple the holidays with any inclement weather over the holiday weekend and there could be even longer delays in receiving packages.

Given all of the delays due to the holidays, expect the delivery schedule for the week after Christmas to be thrown off as employees work to get through the packages that have been on the ground for a couple of days. Another thing to note about shipping after the holidays is that stores offering sales after Christmas might also offer express shipping on their orders. Expect that two-day shipping might actually turn into three or four days given the backlog of packages waiting to be delivered already.
