The action on Boxing Day kicks off with Tottenham hosting Southampton at Wembley Stadium. As the second half of the season gets underway on Tuesday, Tottenham are looking to get back into the top four. Southampton are comfortably in the middle of the table but will continue to look to put points between themselves and the bottom three.
Despite struggling early in the season at White Hart Lane, Spurs have picked up their play at home. After picking up only two points in their first three home games of the season, Tottenham have 16 points in their past six home games. Defensively, Spurs have been significantly better at home, allowing half as many goals as they have away from home. With four games between Dec. 23 and Jan. 4, manager Mauricio Pochettino will have to rotate his squad and give more minutes.
Southampton have struggled away from St. Mary’s Stadium this season. The Saints have only one road win, against Crystal Palace early in the season. Southampton have only six points in their first eight road games this season. If Mauricio Pellegrino’s team want to move into the top half of the table they will have to start winning games away from home.
