BLOOMINGTON, IN – NOVEMBER 04: Jonathan Taylor #23 of the Wisconsin Badgers runs for a 32-yard touchdown in the third quarter of a game against the Indiana Hoosiers at Memorial Stadium on November 4, 2017 in Bloomington, Indiana. (6)Wisconsin(-4.5) at (10)Miami(FL)(4):

Wisconsin 12-1, 9-1 (2nd Big Ten(14):

Wins: vs. Utah State(59-10), vs. Florida Atlantic(31-14), at BYU(40-6), vs. Northwestern(33-24), at Nebraska(38-17), vs. Purdue(17-9), vs. Maryland(38-13), at Illinois(24-10), at Indiana(45-17), vs. (20)Iowa(38-14), vs. (24)Michigan(24-10), at Minnesota(31-0)

Losses: vs. (8)Ohio State(21-27)

Record vs. bowl teams: 6-1

Wisconsin turned out to be what they usually are. A strong team that plays really good defense. Freshman Jonathan Taylor ran for 1,847 yards, and basically carried the offense. Alex Hornibrook was mostly inconsistent. The constant was Taylor and the defense. Wisconsin gave everything they had in the Big Ten(14) Championship Game. It turns out that Wisconsin was a really strong team. Contrary to what many thought about their schedule.

Miami(FL) 10-2, 7-2 (2nd ACC):

Wins: vs. Bethune-Cookman(41-13), vs. Toledo(52-30), at Duke(31-6), at Florida State(24-20), vs. Georgia Tech(25-24), vs. Syracuse(27-19), at North Carolina(24-19), vs. (13)Virginia Tech(28-10), vs. (3)Notre Dame(41-8), vs. Virginia(44-28)

Losses: at Pittsburgh(14-24), vs. (1)Clemson(3-38)

Record vs. bowl teams: 6-1

The U was back after a 10-0 start, but the loss to Pittsburgh derailed them. The Hurricanes were blown out by Clemson in the ACC Championship. It’s fair to wonder what this team has left after that demoralizing loss. Travis Homer did a fantastic job filling in for the injured Mark Walton. Malik Rosier and Braxton Berrios became a formidable duo throughout the season. However, the story of the season was the turnovers created by the defense. Can they turn over a team that takes care of the ball? They couldn’t against Clemson.

Prediction:

Miami played very well at home this year, so them getting a home bowl game was a real gift. Too much of one, if we’re being honest. Wisconsin’s reward for coming within six points of an undefeated season is a road bowl game. On top of that, it’s against a team that plays very well at home. Miami is not nearly as bad as Clemson made them look. They are going to have problems moving the ball against Wisconsin, but luckily for Miami, the Badgers have a mistake prone quarterback. That is going to hurt them at a critical point.

Pick: Miami
