For this week’s NBA Rookie Ladder, we’re looking at New Year’s resolutions for followers of the NBA Draft.

The 2017 NBA Draft class has proven to be one of the most talented crops of rookies the NBA has seen in recent memory. Quality players were littered at different slots and the future is looking bright for some franchises that fans had previously turned a blind eye towards.

New Year’s Eve is only a short few days away. One tradition that is a quintessential part of the changing of years is making a New Year’s resolution. While the rest of the world tries to convince themselves to hit the gym more, eat healthier or do that thing they didn’t do in 2017 that they said they would, we basketball-crazed fans have different ideas of changes we wish to see in 2018.

Every year it seems like similar story lines are always born out of the NBA Draft. “How did [insert team] miss on [insert prospect]?” “Why was [insert championship contender] able to get [Player X]?” “Will Knicks fans boo if they select [insert international player]?” and many others. It is time that we do our part in making sure those same story lines don’t remain part of the NBA Draft cycle in future seasons.

After studying the 2017 rookie class weekly for most of this season, it is only right that the proper steps are taken to ensure that these mistakes are not made again when the 2018 NBA Draft rolls around next summer. In step with the upcoming holiday, a list of NBA Draft resolutions have been compiled to help us all be better at analyzing the draft in the future.
