Manchester United travel to Goodison Park to take on Big Sam’s Everton. The matchup highlights two teams that have frankly underperformed given their high expectations at the start of the season. This is also the fun Wayne Rooney reunion matchup, which brings with it fun narratives and that’s about it.

Manchester United’s recent run of lackluster form is likely partially due to star striker Romelu Lukaku’s lack of goalscoring in recent games. The Belgian had played every single minute of United’s Premier League season before being forced off with an injury early on against Southampton. He’s only bagged four goals since starting the season with 11 goals in his first 10 appearances. With the games not slowing down, Everton may be able to take advantage of Lukaku’s poor form.

Coming up against the Red Devils, Everton can take the lessons from their 0-0 draw against Chelsea recently into this matchup. The Toffees are capable of shutting down offensively capable teams, and the Red Devils are certainly capable of being shut down. Jose Mourino’s men haven’t scored more than two goals since Dec. 2 against Arsenal. Everton’s struggle to score shouldn’t be underestimated as well, only scoring 24 goals so far this year.
