College Football Playoff: 3 knee-jerk reactions to Georgia-Alabama matchup
The Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs will meet in an all-SEC final for the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship. Here are three knee-jerk reactions.
The 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship Game is officially set. The Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs are set to meet in an all-SEC Final for a chance to bring home a National Championship.
It’s the third year in a row that the Crimson Tide will be competing in the National Championship Game. It’s a battle between two teams that many thought would meet in the SEC Championship Game until Auburn defeated the Crimson Tide.
Now, they’ll finally square off with everything on the line. Georgia was able to overcome Oklahoma in a double overtime thriller in the Rose Bowl. The Tide had a much easier time finishing off Clemson in the conclusion to their trilogy. With an all-SEC final set to take place, here are three knee jerk reactions.
3. The SEC gets the last laugh again
Going into New Year’s Day, the SEC was catching some heat. They were the last of the power five conferences to win a bowl game, when South Carolina defeated Michigan. However, all of those takes about the conference not living up to the hype can be put to rest now.
An all-SEC final once again demonstrates the strength of the conference. Alabama and Georgia have been on a collision course for some time this season and now they’re going to get a chance to go at it.
It’s not the first time there’s been an all-SEC Championship and the fact that the conference has done it before shows that they still are the must-see conference. The Big Ten went 7-1 and has a great argument, but at the end of the day an all-SEC final closes the book on any debates.
