LeSean McCoy injury update: Hopeful to play

The Buffalo Bills will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in AFC Wild Card action this weekend, and LeSean McCoy is hopeful he can play.
The Buffalo Bills enter the playoffs as the No. 6 seed in the AFC, and they got there thanks to the play of their star running back, LeSean McCoy. In a season that saw the team bench starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor, McCoy has been a constant, showing once again why he is considered one of the best in the business. However, McCoy was carted off the field during the team’s Week 17 win against the Miami Dolphins, leaving his status for the playoffs in jeopardy.
Joe Buscaglia of ABC 7 Buffalo tweeted out McCoy being interviewed in front of his locker, where he made no promises about playing. McCoy did say that he was hopeful he could play, but he did not want to play hurt like he did last year against Miami. The full interview can be seen via the tweet below.

McCoy finished the season as the fourth-leading rusher in all of football, rushing for 1,138 yards on 287 carries. That was good for a 4.0 yards per carry average, and he also added six touchdowns on the ground, and two through the air. His best game of the season came back on December 10, 2017, when he rushed for 156 yards and a score in a 13-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Buffalo will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, who boast one of the best defenses in all of football. The Bills were expected to struggle to move the ball even with McCoy in the lineup, so having him out makes matters even worse. If the Bills do happen to get past the Jaguars, their next game will be against the New England Patriots, who are the No. 1 seed in the AFC, and have home-field advantage throughout.
