Beyond basketball, the relationship status of LiAngelo Ball was on the mind of a reporter in Lithuania on Friday.

A basketball reality show has officially gone overseas, with LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball arriving in Lithuania to start pursuing their professional ambitions this week. How long it will last is anyone’s guess, but LaVar Ball said the plan is for his lesser-talented sons to stay with the team through the end of the season.

To show just how much of a perceived event the Balls going to Lithuania is, ESPN has sent basketball reporter Jeff Goodman to the country to chronicle it.

The Ball brothers will practice with their team for the first time on Friday, with their first game coming next Tuesday. A news conference took place on Friday, with LiAngelo, LaMelo and of course LaVar answering questions from the assembled media.

Basketball questions are surely acceptable, even in a hyped-up press conference setting the Lithuanian media is not at all used to. But one reporter took it toward a personal level with LiAngelo, in the latest installment of “shoot your shot.”

A female reporter asked LaVar’s middle son if he has a girlfriend. After being asked to repeat the question, she seamlessly re-stated it and asked for an answer without really missing a beat or appearing to have gotten flustered at all (at least based on how the audio sounds). LiAngelo eventually responded with a “no comment”, and LaMelo sunk into his chair.

Goodman tweeted out a picture of the reporter.

LiAngelo Ball’s judgement off the court can be questioned until he proves otherwise, after a shoplifting charge in China led to his departure from UCLA before his freshman season even started. So getting involved with a media member, and an overseas media member at that, would not be out of the realm of possibility.
