Russell Westbrook poured water on an unsuspecting Carmelo Anthony during a postgame interview, to Anthony’s genuine horror.

Let’s set the stage for what led to Carmelo Anthony’s distraught, horrified look during last night’s Fox Sports postgame interview. The Oklahoma City Thunder had just gotten a win against the Los Angeles Clippers, 127-117. An innocent, naive Carmelo Anthony naturally let his guard down after scoring an efficient 22 points, on 9-of-12 from the field. All was well in the world, until Russell Westbrook decided to inflict a scene straight out of the mind of Alfred Hitchcock on poor ‘Melo.

While Carmelo was trying to calmly listen in to his interviewer’s questions, water from an unmarked bottle came pouring down on his head. Anthony responded in a cool, relaxed manner at the prank of course…. Just kidding, he looked to be in absolute agony and was about to turn around to lay a ‘Melo-style beating mid-interview. He then realized the prankster in question was one Russell Westbrook. Anthony proceeded to laugh off the live television prank and probably consider a trade demand.

Warning: NSFW – Video Footage of the Westbrook/Melo Water Incident

Carmelo Anthony was just trying to answer a few timely postgame interview questions when the water incident happens at 0:03. Just look at Anthony’s face, a mix of unbridled pain and furious anger immediately following.

You just know if that wasn’t Westbrook doing the pouring, we’d see an on-the-spot impromptu showdown. The question is now, will Anthony get Westbrook back for this? Is Anthony the type to pursue a revenge water bottle pouring of his own?

It happened to Paul George too

Paul George similarly got water poured on him by Westbrook but it barely registered. A momentary lapse of surprise but the water didn’t have quite the same M. Night Shyamalan-style impact it had on Carmelo Anthony.
