The Lakers are releasing Andrew Bogut, and need a shooter to fill their open roster spot.

The Los Angeles Lakers are in the midst of a long losing streak, and have fallen to 11-27 on the season, last in the Western Conference. The team is currently last in the NBA in 3-point shooting, and has struggled from behind the arc all season.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was brought in this season to help defensively, and possibly help improve the teams 3-point shooting woes. That hasn’t worked. He’s shooting 33 percent from 3, and only 40 percent overall. Not the kind of production the team was looking for.

Now the Lakers have to find some outside options of the 10-day contract variety. Here are some players the Lakers can turn to.

V.J. Beachem

V.J. Beachem is a 22-year-old wing from Notre Dame. He’s 6-foot-8 and can shoot the ball; just what the Lakers need. Kyle Kuzma has some of the same qualities as Beachem, but right now he’s in a real shooting slump.

Beachem would be the ideal 10-day contract man because right now he plays for the South Bay Lakers, the Los Angeles Lakers G-League affiliate. Beachem has always been somewhat of a prolific shooter, dating back to his college days.

Back at Notre Dame, he shot lights out his junior and senior seasons. He shot 48 percent from the floor and 45 percent from 3 his junior year. Beachem is a shooter with length, and the Lakers would be wise to at least consider giving him a shot, and see what he can do.

With the South Bay Lakers, Beachem is averaging just under 10 points per game, but is shooting 42 percent from 3. He’ll probably benefit from playing with Lonzo Ball, who is adept at getting the ball to shooters on the floor. Seeing as Beachem is really good in catch-and-shoot situations they would probably get along just fine.
