Marcus Mariota’s first career postseason touchdown pass went to none other than, Marcus Mariota.

The Tennessee Titans fell behind early to the Kansas City Chiefs in their return to the playoffs since they had their hearts ripped out of their chest during the Music City Miracle. Despite the lackluster start that saw them take a 21-3 deficit to the break, Titans fans got to see another play that will be ingrained in their brains for the rest of time.

Marcus Mariota lined up in shotgun formation with the Titans on the doorstep of the goal line with the team facing a critical third down. Mariota scrambled with no receiver initially open, he evaded the Chiefs pass rush and scrambled to his left where he fired a pass that was deflected by Darrelle Revis, but Mariota picked up the deflected ball before it hit the ground and dove into the end zone for the Titans touchdown.

It was reviewed to determine if Mariota had crossed the line of scrimmage, but he was behind the line and the play stood. Marcus Mariota threw the touchdown pass to Marcus Mariota. Think of the fantasy football points!

If you had Mariota’s first career postseason touchdown pass going to himself, well, you just won a ton of money, and I’m forever jealous. The Mariota to Mariota touchdown brought the Titans closer as the score is 21-10 midway through the third quarter.

I swear, the longer you watch football, the more you see things you never thought you’d see before. I’ve seen quarterbacks catch their own passes before after deflections, Brett Favre, Steve Young and Brad Johnson immediately jump to mind who’ve done it, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a quarterback make such an athletic play in the postseason to catch their own touchdown pass. Simply remarkable by Mariota who will try to use this play to generate some momentum on the side of the Titans.
