NBA Mock Draft: Jaren Jackson Jr. could help end the Magic’s never-ending rebuild
There are so many guys in this draft representative of the changing NBA, and Melton is the wing who represents those changes best. Denver would be getting a gem, and potentially stealing him this late while questions continue about him sitting during the pending FBI investigation at USC.
Last season, Melton scored eight points per game and dishes four assists. He shined brightest as a ball-handler in pick-and-roll and transition situations, with excellent passing vision in tight and open spaces and the strength and creativity to finish at the rim.
Additionally, Melton has the ability to become a top-flight shooter and potentially use it as a weapon off the dribble if he quickens his release. Though he shot only 38 percent from distance as a freshman, he shot 71 percent from the free-throw line and often looks good from mid-range.
The Nuggets could install Melton next to Gary Harris and Jamal Murray as another ball-handler with size and really start to fill out the roster with creative players around Nikola Jokic.
