President Donald Trump’s comments over immigration from Haiti and Africa are not landing well. Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri fired back on Friday.

Basketball is an increasingly global sport. Many of our favorite athletes in the NBA were not born in the United States of America. The league has never been better, but President Donald Trump’s comments over immigration from Haiti and Africa aren’t landing well. Nigerian-born Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri had something to say on the matter Friday.

In ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski’s post on Friday, Ujiri commented on the matter about coming from a s**thole country. Ujiri is considered to be one best front office executives in the NBA, and he has crushed it for both the Denver Nuggets and the Toronto Raptors for much of the last decade. At 47 years old, Ujiri is just getting started on his legacy as a basketball executive.

Ujiri is proud to be where he is from. He made a point in that it’s not about where you are from, but who you are as a person. The best era of Raptors basketball is due in large part to his great work leading the organization. Toronto should be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference by the time the playoffs arrive.

It is interesting that Ujiri runs the only NBA franchise that is not headquartered in the United States. Not that it really matters, but it’s just an interesting factor in these comments for sure. Ujiri is beloved across the league and most people really like the job he has done in making Toronto a relevant basketball team these last few years.

America is founded on immigration so that makes Trump’s stance all the more troubling. Ujiri had no problem calling out the President of The United States of America. It was an offensive comment made by the President and it’s only natural for Ujiri to be upset about it.
