Report: Paige’s WWE in-ring career is over

Former WWE Divas Champion Paige will have her WWE in-ring career abruptly ended due to an injury sustained during her performance.

Huge breaking news involving WWE Raw superstar, Paige. PWInsider is reporting Paige is being forced to retire from in-ring performance due to injuries.

It’s well-known Paige sustained a stinger injury during a six-women bout at a live event a few weeks ago. During the match, Sasha Banks kicked Paige in the back and Paige struggled to get up until the referee called for the “X” symbol.

“It was believed at the time that Paige had suffered a stinger, leading to her losing feeling in her extremities,” Mike Johnson from PWInsider. “Given her previous neck surgery, WWE pulled her from the ring and set up further testing that led to this week’s decision.”

Paige was originally scheduled to perform in the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match this month. However, due to these circumstances, it appears she has no chance of getting back into the match.

Paige was considered one of WWE’s top women’s wrestlers since her days from NXT. When Paige came up to the main-roster and defeated AJ Lee for the Divas Championship in 2014, it seemed she had a bright future in the WWE. The Divas division, which has since been rebranded as the Women’s division, was hardly getting any time to perform on WWE programming such as Raw and Smackdown when Paige made her main roster debut.

However, since 2016 she’s been involved in multiple drug violations that kept her out of action for a long period of time and had a major neck injury that needed surgery. And it’s also worth noting she was involved in a controversial relationship with former WWE star, Alberto Del Rio. Despite making her return to WWE two months ago, she may never be medically cleared by WWE in the near future.
