2018 NFL Mock Draft: Giants land Sam Darnold
By Brad Weiss
During the 2017 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns swung a trade with the Houston Texans so that the Texans could move up in the draft order. With that pick, the Texans drafted Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, who looks to be every bit the real deal at the position. While the Browns missed out on yet another solid quarterback in the draft, they do pick No. 4 overall because of the trade, as the Texans season went into the toilet when Watson was injured for the year.
With their second pick in the first round, the Browns should look to continue to stock pile weapons on offense. Whoever is under center next season needs some help, and bringing in a guy like Saquon Barkley from Penn State would be a solid choice at No. 4. Barkley may be the best running back prospect we have seen in a long time, and the Browns could certainly use some help at that position going forward.
While going 0-16 was an absolute embarrassment last season, the Browns defense actually was not half bad. The return of Josh Gordon should help them out immensely in the passing game, and adding Barkley would give them a legitimate weapon in the backfield. The Browns have a ton of draft picks this year, and finally a solid general manager, who could make this team relevant in a very short amount of time.
