2018 NBA Mock Draft: Luka Doncic could accelerate the Hawks’ rebuild

A lot of basketball writers are trying to find a way to get someone like De’Andre Jordan or Tristan Thompson onto the Trailblazers despite Jusuf Nurkic’s relative success in Portland to this point. Williams would serve the same purpose as either one of those guys for this team.

His offensive performance in conference games had been putrid until the Aggies’ victory over Ole Miss on Tuesday night, when he scored 18 points on just nine shots. Before that, Williams had shot 18-37 from the field in conference games despite taking nearly all of his shots around the rim. Fortunately, he also gets credit for becoming more active on offense after disappearing on that end to start his sophomore season.

You really noticed his length against Ole Miss. Williams finished several lobs behind the napping Ole Miss defense, and on the defensive end he recovered to block several shots from behind. He almost has the look of an early-career Dwight Howard sometimes, if you squint. One would hope that he can build on his recent success to continue trending upward and get Texas A&M into the NCAA tournament.
