2018 NBA Mock Draft: Luka Doncic could accelerate the Hawks’ rebuild
Milton isn’t terrifically different than the guy I have Atlanta selecting with the top pick, but he’s too interesting a prospect to pass on.
People have tremendous respect for what coach Mike Budenholzer can do for offensive players, and his ability to help earn players like DeMarre Carroll and Kent Bazemore massive contracts speaks volumes about his mind as a player developer. Milton can do some of everything on offense, but his core skillset as someone who can pass, finish and shoot would be beautiful within Budenholzer’s egalitarian system.
I think of the success Jeff Teague had when it comes to Milton. Teague controlled the ball even more than I would imagine Budenholzer wanted, and was never quite a knockdown shooter. If Milton can control his tremendous engine and use it as a creator and rabble-rouser, the Hawks could jump to another level on offense.
And it’s exciting to think about what he could do on defense with crazy length and height advantages over point guards.
