Edinson Cavani

Chelsea and Edinson Cavani seem to be linked every year, and each time nothing comes to fruition. Whether it’s Chelsea bidding too low, Cavani not wanting to leave PSG or PSG not being willing to sell, nothing ends up happening. Things may be different time, however.

Cavani is on record stating that he would enjoy playing in England and hopes to have the chance one day. In addition to that, Cavani is having a little trouble in paradise adapting to playing second fiddle to Neymar. And Kylian Mbappe’s immense talent is pushing Cavani further out of the spotlight. If Cavani gets the notion he isn’t needed anymore, what’s the point in him staying? Now is a perfect time for Chelsea to use Cavani’s current situation as a bargaining chip.

By no means would Cavani come cheap. Chelsea will have to pay a hefty sum to bring the strike to London as PSG are still reeling from the amount they shelled out to bring Neymar and Mbappe in. Despite the price tag, Cavani would be ideal for the Blues. He will create competition for Morata, and could even be used alongside him. But most importantly, he provides depth. He won’t be able to play in the Champions League as he’s already played in the competition for PSG, but he would be a welcome addition to the club and would carve out a role for himself.
