NBA Power Rankings: The Clippers keep coming
By Daniel Lewis
Anthony Davis followed up his 48-point performance at Madison Square Garden on Sunday with 45 points in Boston against the Celtics, helping lead his team to a 116-113 overtime win. The Celtics strategy was to beat the Pelicans from the 3-point line, and that meant they shot 50 3-pointers on the game, but the Pelicans had 50 points in the paint, overwhelming Boston’s switching defense. Davis only had four points in the fourth quarter, but he came through in overtime, getting some help from Jrue Holiday as well.
Perhaps there was some letdown from their New York and Boston wins, because the Pelicans went to Atlanta and laid an egg against the Hawks. They only made three of their 18 shots in the third quarter, and the Hawks kept things close enough for Kent Bazemore to knock down the game-winning shot. Jrue Holiday took advantage of the attention that his two All-Star big men drew to score 27 points against the Grizzlies on Saturday, and the Pelicans won 111-104 at home.
