Wizards held players-only meeting and then got destroyed by the Mavs

The Washington Wizards have currently lost three of their last four games, and held a players-only meeting. Obviously that didn’t work because they were run out of the gym by the Mavericks on Monday.
The past week has not been kind to the Washington Wizards. They’re currently 26-21, and hold the five-spot in the Eastern Conference. Small forward Otto Porter is dealing with a hip injury that forced him to leave their latest game against the Dallas Maverick early, and the losses they’re suffering aren’t close ones.
Last Wednesday, they went on the road and lost to the Charlotte Hornets 133-109 which is inconceivable. Now as recently as Monday the Wizards were held to 75 points by the Dallas Mavericks. What makes things even worse the team held a players only meeting on the Friday prior to their matchup with the Mavericks. In the Wizards slight defense, they have lost 17 of their last 19 games to the Mavericks.
The Wizards reportedly had a team meeting a few days prior to their game against the Mavericks. Obviously that didn’t work, because the effort was just not there on Monday. Even if you had lost 16 of your last 18 games against this particular team, you have to give a better effort than 75 points. The Wizards didn’t shoot well, and that’s always a factor in how many points you score. Can’t score points if you don’t make shots, but this is the NBA. You should be able to accidentally score at least 85 points.
In this players-only it seems that the players couldn’t even get that right. Bradley Beal said he felt like not everybody got a chance to speak up and say what they wanted to. John Wall also said that the “front office got to figure it out” if they were to run into more abysmal performances like the one against Charlotte.
The Wizards have not only been underachieving this season, but they’ve been underachievers for a few years now. The most entertaining thing about this team is their “rivalry” with the Celtics, and the way they both take turn wearing all black during the playoffs. This team seems to have everything they need to make a run to the conference finals. It’s just about putting all the pieces together now, and actually showing up every night.
