Detroit Pistons

Send: Jon Leuer, 2018 second round pick

Receive: Josh McRoberts, Shane Larkin

The Pistons help facilitate the Nerlens Noel trade to Boston by taking on two expiring contracts in McRoberts and Larkin. McRoberts wouldn’t be a contributor this season, but he creates cap space for the Pistons in the offseason, where they can explore more options or bring back Avery Bradley. Larkin wouldn’t start over Ish Smith while Reggie Jackson is out, but he gives them another ball-handler in the backcourt that can get minutes in the present.

Shedding Leuer’s contract does cost them their second round pick in the upcoming draft, which they send to Boston, but the cap relief is worth the cost.
